The first day of the Majestic Mountain Tour began today by driving to Eureka, MT, and crossing the border in the reverse of the drive we took into the United States last Thursday.  Our Texas friends, Tommy and Patsy Supak with their little dog Rhett Butler, and Ernie and Ginger Wentrcek with their little dog Simon set out with us and our big dog Marian Rose a little before 7:00am.  It was crispy cold and we were glad to see the sun come up by the time we

made it to Eureka.  The tour planners had all of us who planned to go into Canada gather up and we went in as a group, tying up the Customs Portal for an hour or more.  We only went in for a few miles and then returned but, for many, it was their first venture into Canada.  After inspecting our passports, the agent said to Ben, “If you are from Texas, you must have a gun in there somewhere!”  But we didn’t and passed on through.
The tour today took us through some lovely country but an afternoon rainstorm persuaded us to head back to Whitefish where we enjoyed a delicious dinner for Model T friends from Arkansas, Bill and Nellie Howell and from Mississippi, Joe and Betty Jeffers.
The car ran very well today with the new rod working brilliantly and the new alternator (also installed yesterday) generating power to the battery.  We were excited to not miss even a day of the tour.
