With the end of the Montana Majestic Mountain Tour on Friday night, we were all leaving to go our seoarate ways,  Ernie and Ginger left for a short visit to Canada; Tommy amd Patsy started for home.  We had made arrangements with Arkansas friends Bill and Nellie Howell to spend a few days at Yellowstone National Park before we started our turn toward Texas.  We have traveled with them before and they are a lot of fun and terrific trip planners so we let them make all the arrangements for this part of the trip.

The first leg of our drive today lead us to a country road, Highway 83, which we followed for nearly 90 miles,  The entire road was lined with tall pines and, on the right behind the trees, with lakes, one after another.  We were almost the only vehicles without a boat, float, or canoe!  We could smell the pine trees from the car.  It was a wonderful road for a Model T.

When we turned off toward Missoula though, the traffic picked up and we were in heavy traffic (including five miles of interstate) from then on until we arrived at our motel in Hamilton, MT.  This area is high desert, edged by the lovely Bitterroot Mountains, and there are beautiful rivers but we were exhausted from dodging faster cars and eight hours on the road.  Tomorrow, two mountain passes over 7,000 feet!    Wish us luck!
